Picture Framing Course 5 Days

 

An introduction to framing for the hobbyist or those considering the development of a small business.

 

The basic skills and techniques of picture framing can comfortably be acquired even if previous craft skills are non-existent.

 

This course is essentially of a practical nature and will result in the student taking away the finished frames they have made. They are encouraged to bring prints, photographs, medals, certificates, dried flowers or other items for framing.

 

This course will include:

 

   Selection of materials e.g. mouldings, mount card, glazing 

   materials, fittings and backboards.

 

   Methods of producing mitres.

 

   Mitre fixing, underpinning, clamping, gluing.

 

   Mount cutting and decorative effects e.g. double mounts, V

   cuts, wash lines, oval and circular mount cutting.

 

   Box frames.

 

   Glazing.

 

   Fixing backs and picture hanging.

 

   Frame accessories.

 

   Setting up a framing workshop.
